Einstein’s Workshop is a hands-on STEAM enrichment center in Burlington, MA. We’re looking for enthusiastic instructors to help teach students, build confidence, and have fun!

The Job

The Traveling Instructor will teach Einstein’s Workshop classes at after school programs in the Greater Boston area to students in grades K-8.

  • Great job for college students, retirees, or part-time workers looking to ease back into the workforce.
  • Locations include Andover, Arlington, Beverly, Boston, Burlington, Lexington, Needham, Newton.
  • Starting at 2-10 hours per week. Can grow over time, especially in the summer when it can be a full-time job if desired.
  • Typical shifts are as soon as school ends at the location for 1.5-2 hours (usually starting around 3-4pm).
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Experience in STEM related fields is helpful but we will train the right person in our tools and curriculum!

About You

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. One to two years of college education in science, technology, engineering, art/design, math, or education, preferred.
  • Some experience instructing groups of children grades K-8. Especially helpful is experience with grades K-2.
  • Infectious enthusiasm that fosters innovation and creativity in kids’ learning.
  • Interest and background in one of the following areas is helpful: science, technology, programming, engineering, math, electronics, digital art.
  • STEAM experience is helpful, but we are happy to train enthusiastic instructors on our curriculum and technology!
  • You have the ability to lift and move materials, up to 20 pounds.

This job starts as a part-time TA but can easily add weekend hours and can potentially grow to an Instructor position for qualified applicants.

Einstein’s Workshop is an amazing place in Burlington, MA for kids and adults to discover the creative side of science, technology, engineering, art, and math through classes and a large, engaging STEAM Play space.

We are looking for people to join our team to do a little bit of everything.

Mentor Responsibilities

  • Playing. Seriously playing all day with kids and LEGO and Minecraft. (It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.)
  • Greeting customers.
  • Providing a welcome and enthusiastic atmosphere.
  • Offering experienced assistance in our STEAM Play space.
  • Keeping our STEAM Play space organized and appealing.
  • Assisting with birthday, Minecraft, and other parties.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assisting instructors with various technical and administrative tasks in preparation for and during classes.
  • Joining classes to provide help and guidance to students as they learn. (We will train you.)

About You

  • You love working with kids.
  • You are excited about math, science, and technology.
  • You think LEGO, laser cutters, 3D printers, and robots are cool.
  • Ideally, you have experience working with kids.
  • You are at least 16 years old.
  • You have the ability to lift and move materials, up to 20 pounds.

During the school year, Einstein’s Workshop is open after school and on weekends. During the summer, we run camp Mondays-Fridays. Thus this is potentially a great job for high school, college, and grad students looking for a few hours of work each day or more hours in the summer. Total hours vary from 4-20 hours/week during the school year and 20-40 hours/week during the summer, depending on your availability and preferences.

Mentor Positions

Workshop Mentor

  • A member of our mentor team throughout the year.
  • Available on at least 1 weekend day for 4-8 hours. Able to work during some holidays.

Summer Mentor

  • Available Monday to Friday from approximately June to August.
  • Available half or full days – 4-8 hours.
